Student Union

Students' Association & Societies

The College maintains a number of associations and societies to oster different cultural activities such as holding debates, reading papers, panel discussions and arranging lectures and symposia etc. among the students. The members of the staff of the subjects concerned participate conduct and steer the discussion at such meetings.

College Union

The College Union shall be called the ‘Alaka Mahabidyalaya College Union’, Anantabata.

(a) Aims

The aims and objectives of College Union are to foster in the students a democratic spirit and to give young men and women an opportunity for training in democratic methods and to encourage corporate academic life. Unity, fellow feeling and team work and to inculcate, in the youth the fundamental values based on humanity and national service. It shall remain as the sole tribune of students opinion inside the college. Its functions are detailed below.

(b) Functions

  • To organise discussion on general, cultural, academic, national and international problem.
  • To organize debates.
  • To invite eminent persons to address the Union.
  • To organise such other activities as proposed by the Union and approved by the Principal.

 

(c) Membership Eligibility

Each regular student of +3 stream of the college is a member Union He is eligible to participate in the elections by casting vote and contest for the different offices of the Union unless othe debarred. No one whose name is not on the rolls of the college not be a member.

(d) Membership of the Staff

The meeting of the Union shall be open to all members of the who, if they so desire, can take a part in the proceedings of t meeting. They cannot take part in the voting

(e) Executive Committee

(a) There shall be an Executive Committee of the College Unis consisting of :

  1. President
  2. Vice-President.
  3. Secretary.
  4. Asst. Secretary
  5. Class Representative (one from each class)
  6. In case no girl student contests the election, two girls representatives may be nominated by the Principal immediately after the election is over.

 

(b) Functions of the Executive Committee :

  1. To draw up the programme of activities of the College union for the current session.
  2. To adopt the college Union Budget for the Session.
  3. To undertake such other activities as are in keeping with the aims and objectives of the Union with the approval of the Principal
  4. Quorum for the meeting is 1/3rd of the total membership.

 

(f) The Advisor

There shall be an Advisor appointed by the Principal from among the members of the staff The Advisor shall be present at the meeting of the Executive committee and at ordinary meeting of the Union. He may suggest whatever he thinks as necessary for proper conduct of the meetings. The president may also refer to him any rule for interpretation and the interpretation of the Advisor shall be deemed to be final.

The Advisor may at any time during, a meeting at the request of the President, explain the scope and the effect of the motion or amendment. The Advisor of the College Union will draw money and submit all accounts to the principal. The. Secretary shall maintain the accounts of the union when so desired by the Advisor.
